It's hard to make a perfect product, but FrogLog is close. I live near agricultural fields. I was getting dead frogs and mice in my skimmer almost daily. After adding them? It's very rare. The only downside is that the FrogLogs tend to collect some floating debris from the pool, which is why I took off one star, but it's worth it to avoid the dead creatures! Insects are able to exit the pool with it as well!
The frog logs seem to be working well for our pool - we use it to save chipmunks who were getting stuck in the water. Now they can swim to one of four frog log platforms and climb out. Our pool service staff highly recommended frog logs and we are so happy they did.
Frogs use our pool as a mating pond. Snakes, skinks, and other crawlies had a history of drowning in the skimmer. After adding two frog logs, i rarely have to due a live rescue or body recovery. Just like with humans, though, there are always a few knuckleheads that can't find their way to safety.
This has changed from the previous version and doesn’t work the same. The fact they are filled with air now is disappointing.
I have not had to remove frogs or chipmunks from our pool in the 3 years I've been using our Frog Log. It is very well built.
This gizmo seems to work like a charm. We routinely have had barely alive (or drowned) frogs, toads, skinks, mice, chipmunks, etc. in our pool in the AM that we had to fish out. Since installing the Frog Log there has not even been one! WOW, it really WORKS.
